I recently visited Dallas and Fort Worth for a quick two day trip to visit SMU and TCU in Texas. This was my first time and I knew I wanted to visit some cute spots so I did some research on Pinterest and Instagram the day before I left. I managed to cram some activities during my short time there but my itinerary for the trip was jam packed.
Overall, Texas is what I imagined it to be: barbeque, country music, and people say y’all a lot. It has the charming southern feel with all of the outdoor restaurants, yummy Tex-Mex, and Southern accents. The people are also SO friendly; it was a nice change to see people hold doors and address people by ma’am and sir. Not something you usually see where I live. It’s sad but true.
Below I’ve listed all the spots I went during my spare time on this short 2 day trip. Hope this helps if you visit!
SPOTS I WENT TO:
+ Boulangerie: Cute little bakery/cafe located in Dallas. They have delicious croissants and chai (my FAV)! The bakery has a modern farmhouse vibe happening between the decor and the brick wall. The cups/bags are also hand stamped.
+ Woodshed: I had dinner at this restaurant and the food was incredible. Super yummy salmon tacos and the staff was super friendly. However, the portions are small and you have to wait awhile to be seated (even at 5pm). The restaurant is half indoors/half outdoors and they had live music playing the entire time we were eating.
+ Fruitealicious: HAD to visit this place since it was only 3min away from TCU. I mean BOBA in TEXAS??? If you go, you must try the Purple Oreo!! It’s made from Taro but tastes just like cookies and cream. The Black Sugar Trifecta with grass jelly, boba, and flan is also delicious.
+ Melt Ice Cream: I was having a strong craving for ice cream so I searched for dessert places on Pinterest and found this cute ice cream shop. They have unique ice cream flavors and offer lactose free options! I highly recommend Cup of Texas (coffee flavor) and Springtime Sunshine (vegan coconut ice cream infused with Texas Hill Country lavender and freshly harvested Texselect mint). Bonus: Springtime Sunshine is also vegan, gluten free, dairy free, nut free).
